Sweetwater Summit Campground

Shells

This campground was just awsome.  The weather was wonderful and the breeze's felt great. 18 spaces were taken with campers and tents. So that should give you an idea of how many people were there.

There were BBQ's and campfires.

It was like a big family having a campout.

There were a lot of children and they all were instant friends.

Friday night was the fish fry and BonFire!

Unloading the firewood.
Adding a bit of Fuel to the firewood.
Explosive  BonFire!

   There were games and music.

The children rode their bicycles around with helmets on of course (The rangers made sure of that!).  Somewhere out there is a picture of a certain little boy who had the finest bicycle of all.  It was the shiniest blue and chrome.  I am saving a space for this lost picture if anyone can find it!  I am offering a reward for anyone who can send me this picture!

They hiked and rode bikes, all over the trails and over to the lake.  Not one complaint of boredom was heard.

The dark spots out on this trail are three boys that took their bikes all over these hills together!
Here are the same boys coming back closer to camp.  They really had a good time.

Saturday morning a few people went on a  fishing trip to Catalina.

Saturday was supposed to be the key down but no-one would key???!!!???   HHHMMM  I think some were afraid to compete?!  That's the rumor going around.  That big box from Los Angeles...

and the 16 pills from Arizona and Texas (with a double coil Dr. Crow)...

made a few competitors a little doubtful.  But that did not matter because everyone had a wonderful time.

There were children's races,  like the 50 yard dash and the winners...

got to take home the AC and DC "Sky's the Limit" trophy's.

There was a great 'Tug of War' between the boys and girls...

The girls walked away the winners!

Next competition was the Men against the Women!

I don't need to tell who won that round.  See most of the Men sat around the main tent and did not think the Women had a chance!  You should of seen them all jump up and demand a re-match after the Women won!  Needless to say that did not happen!

Friday and Saturday night's were the big "Hide and Go Seek" games (in the dark) with what seemed to be 40 kids!  Oh they had a good time!  It was real nice hearing all those children getting along and having a good time!

The was no formal dance and party at this function.  After the games there was an awards ceremony...

where the kids received the trophies...

Except in the middle of the ceremony...

this character decided to give himself all of them!

He thought he was going to get away with them...

He did not get far.

We all promised to be back next year and make this a bigger better function. If there is a family function anywhere in this hobby of C.B. Competition, then this is it.  Year 2000 is going to be bigger and better than ever!  There is nothing like San Diego weather and beaches to cool you off from the Deep South Heat and Humidity!  Hope to see you there in 2000!  I just cannot say enough good things about this function!  This is by far one of the best that I have been to in the two years I have been attending them. There may not have been a true key-down competition, but the smiles and memories that the children took home with them were well worth it.

Watch out 2000 there will be a key down!
