Mailing List


Something I always wanted was a nice discussion group for Radios, that was moderated. The only currently availible discussion group that I know about is the rec.radio.cb usenet newsgroup. It often has great info, and is a great place to make friends on the Internet with fellow CB'ers etc...

However, it often becomes filled with SPAM, and personal attacks. So I wanted something better, something more personal, where people can subscribe and be almost completely sure that they won't get any SPAM, and "spammers" won't be able to grab their email addresses from the newsgroup and put it in their list of 1 million email addresses for $1000.

So, now there is this, the BigRadios.COM mailing list. Free for everyone, just like rec.radio.cb, only moderated by yours truly, who isn't afraid to erase anyone from the list. If someone gets out of line, I take them out of the list, plain and simple. And as far as the SPAM is concerned, currently the list can be subscribed to without any special confirmation number having to be sent to the subscriber, and then the subscriber would have to send it back. But this could change immeadiately should someone spam the list. The only restrictions currently are that you have to be a subscriber to post to the list. Meaning, that you have to be on the list in order to send a message to the list (for you people who have never subscribed to a list before).


How to Join?

Simple, just follow this easy 1 step process:

1. Send an email message to listserv@bigradios.com with the body of the message containing:
   
   subscribe bigradios Your_Name
   
   *Your_Name being your actual name, or handle, not your Email address!

You will be sent a Welcome message with instructions on how to use the list.
See, that was easy!



Security Features

1. LIST Command Disabled
   This means that noone can send a "list" command to the server to obtain a listing of all of the subscribers to this list (commonly practiced by spammers)
   
   
2. Only subscribers can post to the list

Rules

The rules are simple:

1. No SPAMMING the list
   
   
2. No Personal Attacks, take it to private email if you must attack someone.
   
   
3. Language is tolerated to a certain extent, but please be civilized.
