Keydown Videos from Memphis Ten. Break 1998
Lots of alternators! Big Boxes, hot rod engines (some), lots of square-body Suburbans! Keydowns are awesome.
If you have never been to a Keydown you can get a taste of what it is like right here.
Some of the videos are abrubptly interrupted when the competitors keydown those monsters. It would cause the camera to shutdown and eject the tape!

AC "sky's the limit" class big boys. One of them is Bobby T. He is running about 70,000 watts.
The camera doesn't like it, but it is far enough away that it doesn't eject the tape. Listen to those RPM's
All those Lexidyne alternators sound like a jet engine!
And you can hear Bobby T's audio coming into the camera with the RF.
This is a long download but they key 3 times in this video. Amazing stuff!

Final AC "Sky's the Limit" class keydown. 70,000 watts (times 2 ?). This one messed up the camera's power supply. The battery had gone dead and I was plugged into an AC cord behind me that was used for one of those flashing signs with the arrow on it. The RF blew out something in the power supply, it would no longer charge the battery or power the camera. Oh well, glad it was a rental. I just told them when I returned it that I didn't know "exactly" what happened to the power supply. Luckily the battery was charged up enough to finish my recording for the night.
